Once you've created a user profile, you can apply it to all devices for that user, including phones, tablets, gaming consoles, and PCs. I tapped the + icon in the upper right corner of the Home screen, selected Smart Devices, tapped Thermostats, and selected Nest Thermostat from the list. The app found my thermostat immediately, and I assigned a location and was finished. Back at the Home screen, a thermostat tab was added to the list of devices. I tapped my thermostat icon and was able to set the heat, switch modes, and turn the thermostat on and off. I chose a location from the list , created a network name and password, and connected my phone to the new network.

These are special routers you can use to extend a network signal far beyond the range of the default device you probably got from your internet service provider. A typical mesh WiFi system comes with a router and at least one or two separate nodes that you plug in elsewhere in your home, ideally in areas that need a little extra signal boost. If everything works out, the nodes can extend your router's WiFi signal to the entire home without you needing to sign into another network as you move around. The parental controls, antivirus and overall gui are all really easy to control and manipulate. Both Nest WiFi and Deco M9 Plus have mobile apps and smart speaker functionality to add some additional bang for your buck.

Nest WiFi nodes also function as Google Nest smart speakers. Ask it for the weather and the Google Assistant will tell you the forecast. You can also use it to control other devices you have connected to it like you would with a regular Nest speaker.
Deco M9 Plus connects and controls your smart home devices as a hub, no need for an additional hub. Below the AntiVirus and Parental Control buttons are buttons for all installed home automation and network devices. To give a device network priority, tap its button and enable High Priority.
As with the Deco M5, the M9 Plus comes with the Trend Micro-powered HomeCare protection service, which is similar to the Ai Protection service that you get with the Asus Lyra Trio. That said, TP-Link's HomeCare lasts for three years before you have to pay an annual subscription fee, while AiProtection is a lifetime deal. The M9 Plus nodes contain two gigabit LAN ports , a power jack, a reset button, and a USB 2.0 port. A red light indicates an issue such as a lost internet connection. It's important to note here that, if you have the means, it can never hurt to buy more nodes than you think you need for your mesh system.
They also require a mobile app for setup and management of connected smart devices. I haven't personally tested it, but PCMag spoke very highly of the app in its review. They called it one of the best mesh systems for 2020. The Overview button takes you back to the main screen, and the Shortcut button lets you create action shortcuts.
